About
Paul Thulin-Jiménez is a photographer and book artist who lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. His work moves between documentary photography, artist books, writing, moving image and installation, and it is made mostly in Maine, Virginia and Puerto Rico, often drawing on his family's archives.
His monograph Pine Tree Ballads (Candela Books, 2019) is held in distinguished research collections including the Museum of Modern Art Library, the Library of Congress, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Cleveland Museum of Art and Stanford University Libraries. His artist books Isla de Las Palmas and Isla de Las Palmas: 100 Yrs have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art Library, Princeton University Library Special Collections, the Clark Art Institute Library, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and Centro, the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College. His new artist book X, made with the poet Cody-Rose Clevidence, has been acquired by the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale and the Poetry Collection at the University at Buffalo. He is an associate professor in the Department of Photography and Film at Virginia Commonwealth University.
