From Oz to Eden

From Oz to Eden was my first inkjet-printed portfolio and the core of my MFA thesis exhibition. The work consists of digitally montaged, theatrically inspired, satirical tableaus of imagined meetings between popular icons such as Mickey Mouse and the Statue of Liberty.

The work rests on irony. It tries to expose the entertaining but ultimately disappointing spectacle of United States history, while its borrowed political-cartoon aesthetic lets a wide audience in: funny, formally beautiful, conceptually engaged and historically aware.
