From Oz to Eden 2001
“From Oz to Eden” was my very first inkjet-printed portfolio and was the core of MFA Thesis Exhibition. The work consists of digitally montaged, theatrically inspired, satirical tableaus of imagined meetings between popular cultural icons such as Mickey Mouse and the Statue of Liberty. The work rests on irony, attempting to expose the entertaining but ultimately disappointing spectacle of United States history while at the same time aiming for a diverse audience to easily engage its borrowed political cartoon aesthetic - funny, formally beautiful, conceptually sophisticated, historically engaged.
